Description of the different column headings:

Printer Model. Many of the printers fit into a group of printers that are similar in some way. The information to the right of each printer list gives information that applies to all of the printers, unless specified differently.

Ink change instructions. These instructions include the following information:

Testing your printer before installing a new ink set,

Removing your old cartridges, without damaging the chip, if that applies to your situation,

Flushing the old ink from your printer, and

Installing the new PiezoTone or Piezography K6 or K7 ink set in your printer.

Installing a PiezoFlow Continuous Inking System. This page includes information on:

Preparing and testing your printer for the installation

            Testing the PiezoFlow for leaks

Filling the PiezoFlow unit with ink

Installing the PiezoFlow in the printer.

Replacing just one or two cartridges in a PiezoFlow system you already have.

Also, this document give tips on ensuring that the PiezoFlow works well for a long period of time, and how to fix problems with it (air in the tubes, print head runs over the tubes, etc).

Location in printer of prefilled cartridges, or shades of ink within a PiezoFlow or other CIS. Most of the printing software for these inks requires each ink shade to be in a particular slot in the printer. In most cases, this is automatic, because prefilled cartridges contain the correct ink shade, and each cartridge only fits into one slot in the printer. However, when working with a CIS or Universal Cartridge (used with only specific models), it is vital to load each shade of ink into the correct printer color slot.

Printing software information: Unlike color Epson inks, our ink sets require the use of special software or ICC profiles in order to lay down the ink in the correct way to provide the right ink densities in a print. Some printers have more than one solution available for a particular ink set; other printers have only one specific solution per ink set. That information is detailed below.

Epson Stylus Pro 7000, 7500, 9000 and 9500, using a PiezoTone  inks and Studioprint RIP. The selection and placement of cartridges when using Studioprint is completely up to the user’s desired print environment. As a general rule, a person will select one black cartridge, two medium gray cartridges, and then either one dark and two light gray, or one light gray and two dark gray cartridges. In addition, the use of Studioprint allows the user to mix two different tones, to enable “split-tone” printing. Split toning generally means a blend of cool and warm inks- not two different warm or two different cool inks. The table below shows commonly used ink set combinations for split toning. The designations “Tone 1” and “Tone 2” refer to two distinct tones. Usually this means one cool tone and one warm tone.
